Community Coworking House & Centre for Arts & Education.

House of Toad is a space like no other in Glasgow’s West End bringing together artists, freelancers, remote workers, small businesses, grass roots and community organisations under one roof. Through coworking, artist studios, workshops and events, we bring you a vibrant shared space where creativity, work, community & wellbeing thrive side-by-side.

At the heart of HOT is our social mission: Providing a creative education & a community for life, to people who often face barriers to participation.

What happens here.

Coworking.

Our coworking space brings together freelancers, artists, remote workers and small organisations in a welcoming, shared environment. Members benefit from a calm and inspiring place to work, alongside a community of people who support one another professionally and socially. Many work alone by default; here they can find connection, collaboration and a sense of belonging.

Events.

House of Toad hosts a wide range of creative and community events throughout the year. From drawing classes and sculpture workshops to yoga, exhibitions, talks and community gatherings, the house is alive with activity. We host yoga with Change Collective on Thursdays and All The Young Nudes Life Drawing Club on Wednesdays, both of which are open to the public, but free for HOT members. Check out our What’s On page for more details!

Learning.

House of Toad hosts a growing programme of creative learning, including public courses, artist-led workshops and regular classes such as Lewis MacKenzie’s popular Friday painting sessions. Alongside these, we are developing subsidised creative programmes for people who face barriers to accessing the arts, including individuals with Additional Support Needs and care-experienced young people. These initiatives are beginning to take shape within the house, forming the foundation of our long-term social impact work.

Why we do it.

House of Toad was created to bring people together.

Many people today work alone — freelancers & remote workers across all sectors, and small organisations often lack access to supportive environments where creativity, inclusion and collaboration is encouraged.

At the same time, many young people and adults face barriers to accessing creative education and meaningful community.

House of Toad exists to bridge these worlds.

We operate as a mixed-income social enterprise, where our coworking members, studio holders and venue hirers directly support subsidised creative education for people who might otherwise be excluded. Work, learning and community happen together under one roof.

This environment has sparked something special: a space for work, creativity and community, where people who might normally feel excluded are welcomed, and members actively support one another — HOT is somewhere everyone can feel at home.

Take a look around…

We are spread across 2 floors at no. 23: On the ground floor there are 3 distinct work-spaces you can choose to work from: The Grand Hall, for quiet and productive work, The School for a more informal, flexible space (this doubles up as a cafe and event space) and The Garden Room which is where our dedicated coworkers reside, overlooking the park. Our artist studios are on the 1st floor, along with Genuine Quirk’s pottery studio.

Location.

We are based in an old listed town house in Park Circus in Glasgow, at the top of Kelvingrove Park. I’ve always dreamed of working or living around here and when this place came up I couldn’t resist coming to visit. I fell in love with the space, but so did many other people. When the landlord reviewed our plans for the space he chose us to take up residence at No. 23 and we couldn’t believe our luck. Park Circus is a 5-10 minute walk from Kelvinbridge Underground Station. We are a 5 minute walk from Woodlands Road and Great Western Road both of which are very well connected by bus. We are a 10 minute taxi journey from Central Glasgow. We are 2 minutes from the beautiful Kelvingrove Park - there are spaces to leave your bike at HOT on the basement level outside.
